Buying a Home - Fieldstone Family Homes
I have been thinking about buying a home for years and now seems to be the time to stop thinking and start doing. With all the gloom and doom about the economy looking out there the one silver lining is that houses have come down in price and banks badly need to get some good mortgages on their books. That means for average people like you and me buying a home is now a possibility. And, the best part is the market doesn’t have anywhere else to go but up.
One of the things I have learned about buying a home thus far is that you want to make sure you get pre approval from your lender before going out and making any offers. The reason this is smart is because you can make a move quickly if you happen to find the perfect house at the perfect price. Pre-approval means no waiting period for a bank to go through all the red tape in getting your mortgage approved. You should also do your best to get together as big a down payment as you can afford. This will also help you in the lending process as the banks want to see that you are truly invested in getting a new home.
The other important thing I have learned about buying a home is to take my time and make sure I get exactly what I want. There is a lot of inventory in homes out there and the chances are there is the perfect home for everyone it just takes a little time to find it. I have even gone to some auctions for foreclosed homes. For some people this is a great route to go when looking for a home. The process is a little different and you do need to have more cash available, but there are some seriously good deals out there.
Buying a home is pretty much everyone’s dream and in these times it may just be time to realize that dream. Taking the plunge into homeownership is not just smart. It could change your financial future for the better. Just remember to be careful and get the home that you want and don’t pay more than you should or that you can afford. There is a home for everyone and people like you and I will benefit from buying a home during these times.

Here are some basic tips on how you can avoid Home Builder Scams and Home Builder Rips Offs provided by Fieldstone Family Homes
*Verify the home builder’s name, address and phone number. Be wary of homebuilders who give you pager numbers rather than a land line phone numbers, or post office boxes rather than street addresses.
*Request references on similar work performed by the home builder. Ask to see a job in progress, and ask for the name and number of a customer who had work done over a year ago.
*Obtain two or three bids. When comparing estimates, be sure each one is based upon the same set of plans, specifications, and scope of work.
*Check with professional associations and licensing boards to see if the home builder is listed and has a good standing.
